Mechanical Warranties
If you are worried about mechanical breakdowns, or you are not very mechanically minded then you will want to take a mechanical warranty for the vehicle. This means if the worst does happen it won’t be at your cost.
This effectively means, any major issues with the engine, transmission and many other components of the car or campervan are covered by a type of insurance. Like most insurance policies you will pay the first $150 of any claim and the rest (up to $2000 per claim) is paid by the insurance company. And there are no limits to the number of claims you make within the covered period.

The company is called Janssen Holdings Ltd. They have been providing New Zealand motorists with mechanical breakdown insurance for 20 years. They are underwritten by IAG New Zealand, New Zealand’s largest insurer and have a AA rating which means they have a “very strong” claims paying ability.
As long as your vehicle is less than 20 years old and less than 500,000km then you are eligible for mechanical breakdown insurance, and with our great rates it is a small price to pay for a lot of security.
