The Royal Government of Bhutan has put a regulation that every tourist must spend a minimum of USD 200 per day while in Bhutan. You cannot spend this amount on hotels, restaurants, souvenirs or any other expense. If you are traveling as part of a group then the daily minimum will be divided equally among all the members of the group. If you happen to spend less than USD 200 in a day then the difference will have to be made up before you depart from Bhutan.

  • The currency of Bhutan is Ngultrum, pegged 1:1 to the Indian rupee.
